Benjamin Creme was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1922 and began studying art at an early age. It was also in his early years that he became interested in esoteric philosophy, in particular the teachings released at the end of the 1800's through Helena Blavatsky and the Theosophical Society, and then, the next stage of teachings released through Alice A. Bailey (1912-1945). These teachings led him to believe in the existence of the 'Masters of Wisdom' - a group of Perfected Beings who are custodians of the Divine Plan for this planet.
He was surprisingly contacted in 1959 by one of the Masters and told among other things, that the Christ, the Master of all Masters, would return in about 20 years and that he (Creme) would have a part to play in this event should he choose to accept it. In 1972 a period of intensive training under the guidance of his Master began for Benjamin Creme, preparing him for the task of preparing a skeptical world for the return of the World Teacher. Since 1974 Benjamin Creme travels the world spreading his message of hope and creating a climate of expectancy for Maitreya’s emergence. He is author of twelve books - translated into 11 languages - and is editor of Share International magazine which circulates in 70 countries. He receives no money for any of this work. Who is Maitreya?
All the great religions posit the idea of a further revelation to be given by a future Teacher: Christians hope for the return of the Christ, the Buddhists look for the Coming of another Buddha (the Lord Maitreya), while Muslims await the Imam Mahdi, the Hindus a reincarnation of Krishna and the Jews the Messiah. Students of the esoteric tradition know all these different names for the same individual - the Lord Maitreya, the World Teacher, the head of the Spiritual Hierarchy of Masters and they look for his imminent return now.

The return of Maitreya
In July 1977 Maitreya emerged from His centre in the Himalayas, when least expected, "like a thief in the night". Since then he has lived in London as an ordinary man concerned with modern problems - political, economic and social. He is not a religious leader, but an educator in the broadest sense - pointing the way out of the present world crisis. On June 1st, 1988 an associate of Maitreya indicated that the signs of Maitreya’s presence in the world would continue to increase. A few days later, on June 11th, 1988 Maitreya appeared miraculously before 6,000 people at a prayer meeting in Nairobi, Kenya and spoke 20 minutes in perfect Swahili, the local language. Then he disappeared as amazingly as He had come, leaving many people behind completely healed of their illnesses. The Kenya Times reported about this event as did international media like CNN. In the same manner Maitreya appears all over the world and as one of the many signs of His presence charges a stream or well of water in the vicinity with extraordinary healing properties.

No new religion
According to esoteric teaching Maitreya manifested Himself 2,000 years ago in Palestine by overshadowing His disciple Jesus. With the full consent and cooperation of Jesus is was possible for Maitreya to release the great spiritual energy which we call love. Jesus is now a Master himself and will be among the first Masters who will appear in public with Maitreya.
Maitreya does not intend to build a new religion around Himself, nor to create followers. Everyone should develop according to his or her own culture and tradition. He says: "Even when you see Me, do not run after Me - if you follow Me, you will lose Me." He has come to teach humanity "the art of Self-realization". The first steps are "honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit and detachment". True self-realization is not an ideology or religion - it serves all people - religious and non-religious alike.

Necessity for Sharing
We are at a climax in the development of humanity. The people who are living on our planet at this time have to carry a larger responsibility than earlier generations.
Maitreya will show us that we are faced with a great decision: either we will change our human relationships and implement sharing as our guiding principle or continue in our selfish competitive behavior and destroy ourselves.
If we are ready to implement sharing as our guiding principle then we can count on the support of Maitreya and his group.
Maitreyas advice is simple: Take your brothers and sisters needs as measure for your action ... Share among each other and save the world.

Signs of Maitreyas presence
More and more people are experiencing miraculous phenomena: Circles of light, Marian and Angel apparitions, weeping statues, crop circles, the 'hitchhiker'- phenomenon (a picked up hitchhiker says that the Christ is in the world and is suddenly disappeared out of the driving car), Hindu statues, that are drinking milk and much more.
Since 1986 media world-wide are reporting about crosses of light which have appeared in (mostly) frosted glass windows. Many people who have seen a cross of light have reported about healings and personal experiences that have changed them.
These phenomena are manifested by Maitreya and the Masters in order to prepare hte public for the upcoming return of the World Teacher (see Interview with Benjamin Creme: "Do you believe in miracles?")

Healing waters
At many places water wells have been charged with energy by Maitreya which has given the water a strong healing effect which also has been proven scientifically. The first discovered well is in Tlacote, a town ca. 200 miles north of Mexiko City. Thousands are coming every day to get some healing water. Another healing well was discovered 1995 in Nordenau (Germany), 60 miles east of Düsseldorf. Die Welt, Der Spiegel, Bild and Brigitte already reported about it. In addition there is a well in Nadana Village (India), 90 miles north of New Delhi and a well near Nairobi (Kenya). More wells will be discovered in the future, altogether 777 wells - the next in San Antonio, Texas (USA).

Transmission Meditation
Transmission Meditation is a simple, safe, non-denominational and unbelievably potent form of group meditation which combines Karma -Yoga, the way of service, and Laya -Yoga, the science of the energies. The first Transmission group was founded in London in March 1974 by Benjamin Creme. He received this meditation from his Master, a member of the Spiritual hierarchy of the Masters of Wisdom.
Transmission Meditation is suitable for people who have little time for service and meditation and yet would like to to something good for the world and themselves. There are hundreds of Transmission groups worldwide, a graphic overview can be found on the World Map of Transmission groups.
