A Look into the Future

Statements about the future in:

PoliticsEconomy,  Environment,  Science,  Culture and Social,   Religion,  UFOs and Phenomena

Since 1982 Share International (see also Share International Magazine) has published forecasts of life ahead, from Maitreya, Benjamin Creme’s Master, and also from Benjamin Creme. Many events have demonstrated Maitreya's insight. As early as 1988 he foresaw the release of Nelson Mandela, the resign of M. Thatcher, the cease-fire between Iran and Iraq, a number of earthquakes, the reunification of Germany, the internal problems of the Soviet Union, the increasing commercialisation of life, the peace in Lebanon, the rise of religious fundamentalism etc. We have assorted the predictions according to subject and present them here for your consideration.

The changing role of the United Nations

Interview of the journalist Patricia Pitchon with Benjamin Cremes Master in May 1991

The United Nations will play an increasingly important role in the world, according to Benjamin Creme’s Master. Interviewed by Patricia Pitchon, through Benjamin Creme, the Master stated: “The UN is destined to lead the world out of its present precarious imbalance and to act as the sounding chamber for the thoughts and aspirations of the peoples of the world.”

PP:
The recent Gulf War highlighted the role of the United Nations in various ways. It is generally agreed that the level of coordination of those nations forming part of the Security Council was unusually good. This is independent of the wisdom (or lack of it) in choosing to go to war with Iraq.

But there is a feeling that the distribution of power within the UN — with so much of it concentrated in the Security Council — hampers the potential of the UN as an effective organization of the nations of the world. Would the Master give His view on how power could be more fairly redistributed within the UN so as to be more truly representative?

The Master: The real problem in the UN as it acts now is that the Security Council has taken precedence over the General Assembly.

This is seen as ‘realistic’ by the major powers and their associates in the General Assembly as the only means of implementing UN resolutions. This is not truly the case but it is seen to be so. The permanent members of the Security Council (the US, the USSR, China, France and the United Kingdom), as the owners of the nuclear bomb, have been seen since the Second World War as the policemen of the world. Whatever could not be agreed between them could not be agreed. The power of veto built into the process has underlined this fact. The new relationship between the US and the Soviet Union has shattered this old framework and has created an entirely new situation in which the voice of the General Assembly can become increasingly more distinct.

Until now both the US and the USSR have feared the resolutions stemming from the General Assembly as being biased against them in any particular instance. This will no longer be the case.

More and more, the US — once it has overcome the flush of success of its recent escapade in the Middle East — and the Soviet Union will listen attentively to the growing authority of the General Assembly of nations. Democracy is on its way even there and naught can stop it.

The UN is destined to lead the world out of its present precarious imbalance and to act as the sounding chamber for the thoughts and aspirations of the peoples of the world. Unless the peoples’ voice can be so heard, the UN will fail.
A new UN Secretary General will shortly be elected and sworn into office. His more dynamic approach will breathe new life into this institution and guarantee its greater effectiveness.

PP: What can the UN do to develop an effective role to cope with world hunger?

The Master: The true role of the United Nations is to act as the voice of the peoples of the world and to so organize international relations as to guarantee peace. It is not the avowed aim of the United Nations to abolish hunger. Nevertheless, many UN agencies have long concerned themselves with this field. Eventually, a new agency of the United Nations will be developed whose whole concern will be with the redistribution of the world’s resources. In this way the UN, without altering its role as a ‘debating chamber’, will grasp the nettle of practical help for the starving and poor of the world.

PP: As Maitreya has predicted through His associate, new thinking on the role of governments world-wide points to four major duties: feeding the people, housing the people, and providing adequate health care and education. This is irrespective of political ideologies. The UN has concerned itself with various health programmes. Recently the World Health Organization was criticized for concentrating too many resources on Europe and not enough on much needier countries, and for spending too much on administration. What principles should guide the improvement of UN efforts in this field?

The Master: Each nation must make its own decisions, but an overall plan for global transformation, formulated and enunciated by the UN, would act as a major stimulus to individual governments to implement the needs in terms of health, education, housing and food.
The action of the United Nations until now has been bedevilled by ideological intransigence. These basic needs pertain whatever the ideology followed at any particular time, and ideology should not be the governing factor in the dispensing of aid. In the future this will not be so. Each case will be dealt with on its merits and not in relation to ideological belief or system.

PP: What intervening steps should be taken to get us there?

The Master: It is a gradual process. It will certainly require a broader vision than is generally possible today, and it may well be that the emergence of Maitreya will be needed as the catalyst to awaken humanity, and therefore its representative, the United Nations, to the true needs of the world. So much of UN thought is concerned with theory and ideology. An altogether more practical approach must pertain.

PP: Does this mean more field workers, for example?

The Master: Not only more field workers, but more liaison between governments and aid agencies, and between aid agencies and the recipients of aid, to determine what aid, in what form, is precisely needed.

PP: 1989 and 1990 saw major natural disasters which affected millions of people — earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, etc. Should there be a co-ordinated UN Emergency Fund to deal with disasters on this scale?

The Master: The short answer is yes, yes, yes! And were the UN to intervene in the many local wars which are now causing much destruction, the happiness of the world’s people would be immensely improved.

PP: Does intervention mean conciliation?

The Master: Intervention means police work. The United Nations must see itself as the upholder of peace and human rights. Where these are endangered through the antagonism of local factions, the UN should have the right to intervene and to offer help in the restoration of peace. Had this been done in Ethiopia, for example, the present tragic suffering of many millions could have been prevented.

Mainly at the instigation of the US Government, the will of the UN was brought to bear in the recent Gulf crisis, largely because long-term US material interests were thought to be threatened. Were the same energy and logistical expertise focused on the needs of the poor, poverty and starvation could be eliminated relatively quickly, and the response to human suffering through natural disasters would be prompt and effective. The United Nations as a whole has little to be proud of in this regard.

PP: Is it necessary to lobby governments to highlight and focus on this idea?

The Master: Inevitably. To quote the Lord Maitreya, “Nothing happens by itself. Man must act to implement his will.”

PP: What factors stop those in influential positions in the world from considering the alleviation of poverty and famine as a major priority?

The Master: There are many factors at work here. But the major ones are lack of political will to implement action to answer the sensed need; a sense of powerlessness in the face of the magnitude of the problem; ingrained complacency of the vast majority of established, developed nations and of their representatives (in government and in the UN); and the overriding greed and selfishness of men everywhere which generates a fear of the transformative results of truly dedicated action to redress the imbalances in the world. The ‘haves’ know instinctively that any real change, any fundamental change, would spell the end of their privilege and power.

PP: Although the Master has said that some major changes will take place gradually, will we see a transformed UN within a decade, or is it longer-term?

The Master: Unless the nations see the necessity for a complete reappraisal of the presently governing economic systems, a total collapse of the world’s economy is inevitable. This would result in chaotic conditions; for example: civil war, internal strife of all kinds and even, eventually, major world conflict. This situation the UN would be powerless to halt.

The new factor which will transform this threat is the appearance of Maitreya before the world. This is planned and inevitable, and will have a galvanizing effect on the actions of all the member states. The speed of their response cannot be strictly ascertained, but may be adjudged prompt and effective.

PP: Is there anything else the Master wishes to add?

The Master: The UN is the major hope of the world. In its interrelationships we can see democracy writ large — the symbol for that expression of God’s Will that men call goodwill. With the advent of the Christ this goodwill will bring all men and all nations into correct relationship and create the necessary circumstances for the expression of that synthesis which will be the outstanding keynote of the coming civilisation. In this vast enterprise the UN will play a major role.

The politics of the New Age
from Maitreya's perspective

Interview with Maitreya's associate by Patricia Pitchon

During a lengthy discussion on 28 and 29 September 1993, Maitreya’s associate explained Maitreya’s views on the politics of the New Age, as well as impending changes in world affairs.

The Politics of the New Age
- Power politics will give way to the politics of food, shelter and protection. This will spread the world over. Socialism and capitalism will converge. They are the two wheels which are essential. Politics cannot function with only one wheel.

The UK - Although we may not realize it fully, the political spectrum is now changing. The old models cannot provide the answers. There will be a more pragmatic ‘mix’ at local levels to try to solve the problems of people in the area. The implication here is that confrontational or old-style adversarial attitudes and hard ideologies will give way to consensus-building among a variety of political tendencies at local level. Indeed, this is already happening in a striking manner in some local councils where co-operation of this type yields better results in solving local problems.

Northern Ireland - Despite all appearances to the contrary, there will be changes. Current processes leading to positive changes are not reported in the media. There> will be greater autonomy and communities will take greater control of local affairs in a more satisfactory way. Although the UK will be responsible for overall defence, its influence in other areas will lessen. At local level, the people will be represented in a type of regional Parliament in which both Protestants and Catholics will be represented. Better links between them will develop. Regional representation in a Parliament will also develop in Wales and Scotland.

Russia - In Russia both Boris Yeltsin and the forces opposing him will have to work together. The politics of confrontation will have to give way to the politics of food, shelter and protection for the Russian people. Boris Yeltsin cannot rule by force and by decrees. Many in the military are behind him only up to a certain point. Boris Yeltsin has put his faith and trust in the armed forces but there is a law in creation which will compel him to give up rule by force. The moment the armed forces realize that these are nothing but dictatorial attitudes their support will begin to fade away. At the end of the day the representatives of the people and the Government itself will give priority to food, shelter and protection, which will be the politics of Russia. The same scenario will begin to develop elsewhere, including the West in its scope.

Yeltsin will be removed from his present position. He cannot fight the machinery of opposition within Russia. With “masked faces”, elements of the old regime will come in through the back door. It will not be the old communism, but socialism with a blend of capitalism, modelled on the current pattern of political and economic evolution of China. In this connection Maitreya’s view is: “If a person has been born in a jungle and you take him out of his environment into ‘society’, you can change him over years but not overnight.” The implication here is that changes which are too sudden cannot be digested adequately, and this is true of Russia. According to Maitreya’s associate, the countries of Eastern Europe will find a way of evolving more in line with their own values and not by trying to be carbon copies of Western-style democracies. There will be, eventually, a better balance of socialist and capitalist elements.

The Maastricht Treaty - This treaty cannot work. The French will remain French; the British will remain British, and so on. The nations will retain their sacred individuality. But food, shelter and protection must be given priority so that the seeds of destructive nationalism and racism cannot grow. Free trade is not the same as the abolishing of all border controls. To abolish these is to allow the drug business to flourish. If we allow this, the national identities will suffer. This suffering itself gives rise to nationalism and racism, which are the seeds of destruction. Once the identity is destroyed there is darkness. Identity is the space between the Self and the Lord. Without identity there is no life.

The sacredness of nations
– The current European experiment (ie ever-closer political and economic union) has not worked. There can be a convergence along certain lines, but the identity of a nation remains sacred. Human ideologues cannot destroy it.

The US – Just as the 80 regions of the Russian Federation are seeking greater autonomy, the same process is occurring in the United States. Each state wants a greater say in managing its own affairs (education, health, housing, police forces, etc.) Each state is willing to pay its due share of taxes to central government, but at present the feeling is that too great a share goes to the centre, leaving insufficient funds for local management of local affairs.
There will be a change of policy. Central government will concern itself with defence and national priorities.

The Middle East – Countries which were considered belligerent will gradually be accepted by the Arab nations as a whole, and then by the international community. Iraq is no superpower, and the awareness of the Iraqi people is growing all the time. The Government there will gradually allow the people to express themselves more. The same will be true of Iran.

Even in Syria, the Government will not continue in its present form. Israelis and Palestinians will live alongside each other in greater harmony despite all the difficulties they have faced, and a greater sharing of wealth in the region will take place.

Iran and Iraq – Despite outward appearances, fast changes are taking place at ground level in both countries. In Iran the religious leaders will not be able to rule the masses as they have done until now. They are trying to bring in ‘younger blood’ so that they can continue to hold on to power, but the old political faces will go. Governments everywhere will evolve towards a variety of forms which reflect “government for the people, by the people”.

Yugoslavia – The war in Yugoslavia has been called a civil war but this is really the butchery of humanity without even the rules of war. According to Maitreya, power does not bring happiness. Politicians and leaders who have failed to understand what awareness is in life cannot lead the masses. Man’s ‘second nature’ (ie his conditioned nature) can evolve into awareness through honesty of mind, sincerity of spirit and detachment . But if the environment (the circumstances people find themselves in) fails, the second nature is like a blind man walking the streets.

Bosnia is a tragic legacy for political leaders West and East, and for the United Nations Security Council. They have failed to protect the innocent, leaving the conscientious few to venture into the war-torn arena to feed, shelter and nurture the people. Defenceless people here, in the estimation of all these leaders, are worth less than the oil wells in Kuwait. Present-day politics are sheer hypocrisy.

Japan – Japan is entering a phase where much corruption, the darker side of Japanese life, is opening up and will bring to an end the era of more and more money-making. There is much family disintegration even in Japan (due to the pressures created by the excessive competition and daily struggle, themselves the products of an excessively commercialized world). Market forces are the antithesis of freedom and salvation.

(PP adds: Maitreya has developed this theme over the years, in the sense that market forces are now too powerful. We have become their slaves, whereas the aim is and should be to master them. The only way to do so is to establish right priorities, initially the feeding and sheltering of many millions who are in dire need. The sense of security this will create will itself do much to calm people’s fear and the greed which has its roots in fear. When most people have “enough”, then many will no longer feel the need to chase after more and more. Gross inequality will no longer be the destabilizing force it is at present.)

Public servants – Those in power must see themselves as public servants. The change in world politics, leading to emphasis on food, shelter and protection, leaves no place for power struggles as they exist now.

China – China is on the way to being a very powerful country. For the present it will have capitalism as an aspect but it will still retain values of life pertinent to its civilization, unlike Russia where the values of life have been destroyed. Capitalism on its own cannot survive in the world. Socialism on its own cannot survive either. China’s economy will become very strong: it will “match the dollars”.

Violent human actions disturb the earth’s balance – On 12 July 1993 Maitreya’s associate sent a letter to American President Bill Clinton. In the last paragraph, referring to Yugoslavia, Maitreya’s associate pointed out that the forces which have been triggered and unleashed upon humanity, imposing murderous sufferings, “will now reverberate in terms of major earthquakes and disastrous floodings and aerodynamic failures. Let your generals and scientists now watch and analyse the happenings”.

Maitreya’s associate pointed out that shortly afterwards there were floods in several parts of the world, among other natural disturbances; the event which the West focused on was the disastrous flood when the Mississippi River burst its banks. The associate offered the information that Maitreya enabled a small group of people to experience these events vividly “as if they were there”, in advance of the physical occurrence.

Maitreya’s associate and a few others have written to a number of political leaders in a variety of countries, detailing these trends and events. The letters refer to Maitreya as ‘The World Teacher’ and more generally try to develop a wider understanding of the Laws of Cause and Effect, thus linking the violence of events such as those in Yugoslavia and elsewhere to subsequent natural disasters which can and do affect people not directly involved, but who nevertheless have to endure the consequences of a disturbed planet.

Knowing these laws enables Maitreya to foresee the effects of the causes we ourselves have set in motion. Understandably, Maitreya’s communications (whether directly to groups around the world or indirectly through those who willingly assist Him) are designed to raise awareness of that for which we ourselves are responsible. A growing understanding of these laws will in itself lead to strengthened collective preventative action on the part of peoples and governments.

Extra-planetary help – Already, there are beings from more evolved planets in our solar system living on Earth. In the United Nations there are records of the fact that they are acting in some instances as advisers in government circles in various countries. Much inspiration is being given in the medical field also, particularly with reference to the Technology of Light. Enlightened beings can control this Technology of Light but they do not misuse it. In important instances, they have prevented its misuse. Their role is protective and inspirational.

A New Energy Pervades the Planet
Freedom and Global Interdependence

From the book: Maitreya's Mission, Vol. Two
(Pages 89 - 91 - First Edition Sept. 1993)

In April 1988, a close associate of Maitreya, long established in London’s Asian community, contacted freelance journalist Patricia Pitchon. He started a series of briefings in which he presented some of Maitreya’s teachings and forecasts of world events with the view that they be published through Share International and made available to the world’s press. Later, Maitreya’s associate also made contact with another journalist who received additional information. Maitreya gives His teachings orally, and His associate conveys them to the journalists.

As regular readers will know, each article may cover a wide variety of topics ---- from a flood in Bangladesh to a lesson in Self-realization. Many of these topics recur again and again, each time adding some new information from Maitreya. For the sake of clarity, therefore, we have edited the excerpts presented here so that teachings on a particular topic are grouped and can flow together. Maitreya’s purposes in releasing this material are further to prepare humanity for His emergence and to help us understand the spiritual laws governing our lives.

The forecasts of world events included in many interviews are given out primarily to illuminate one of the most important of these spiritual laws: the Law of Cause and Effect. It is only by grasping and working within this law, Maitreya says, that we can resolve the present social, political, economic and environmental crises.

A new energy pervades the planet now. Scientifically, this is the energy which creates equilibrium between positive and negative currents. When positive and negative currents merge, light is produced.

This energizes all life and creates harmony. We will see a new equilibrium in nature, and both people and nature will respond constructively. The sun ‘has been brought closer to the earth’, symbolically speaking. That is, its radiation has increased, and this will energize the earth.

The energy of equilibrium affects human affairs, as well as the world of nature. Maitreya is using the energy of equilibrium to stimulate the urge towards greater harmony between man and man and between man and nature. Prior to the achievement of this equilibrium there is an inevitable period of adjustment with its attendant difficulties. But through this process, Maitreya teaches, the world’s current spiritual crisis will be resolved, and, in Maitreya’s words, ‘‘this planet will come close to the Lord.’’

Nations around the world have been filled with this new energy, and more and more people are responding to it, becoming more aware, realizing a new livingness and becoming free. When the energy of equilibrium is brought into play, nothing is immune from the transformations which take place.

All these changes are creating awareness, and people have decided that enough is enough: they have a right to be free and to enjoy life. They no longer want to be conditioned by politics, religion or commercialization. It is the younger generation which is experiencing the effects of this new energy, and this gives them the strength to change the old systems which have imprisoned people. Today, the voice of realism is found among the young, free as they are from ideology, philosophy and theory. They are realistic about life and meet it as it comes.

The response to this energy of equilibrium will be increasingly constructive. Conflict between governments and guerrilla forces the world over will begin to decrease, and people will come to the negotiating table. Rule by force will disappear, and politicians will become the servants, not the masters, of the people. Governments will be spending more money on the welfare of the people for social programs such as education, medicine, and recreation ---- rather than on destructive weapons.

The role of monarchies around the world will change now, and monarchies will be, in Maitreya’s words, ‘‘positively active.’’ These changes are not a matter of individual countries only: policies are being forged globally. Says Maitreya: ‘‘History will not be repeated.’’ Judicial systems around the world are undergoing rapid change; ideological struggles are beginning to decrease between East and West ---- and will also decrease between North and South. Government hypocrisy is being challenged everywhere, and in this ‘breaking down’ process things formerly hidden from the people will come to the surface.

Current political systems are losing power and credibility throughout the world, and will eventually give birth to new systems of government which will be much more representative. In the new era, the people themselves will come to the fore and be able to express all of their social, political, religious and educational needs.

They will express themselves and their compassion through aid to others. Ordinary citizens, intellectuals, educators, and others from a variety of walks of life will find they have a genuine voice in government.

No politician on earth will now be able to repeat past history. The old politics of divide and rule are finished. The divisive art of politics has come to an end, and a new one that respects harmony will soon succeed. The new politics will no longer be molded by the ‘isms’ of capitalism or socialism, but created from self-respect in individuals and nations.

The new politician will be an intellectual, an experienced person who knows the laws of evolution and will wisely guide his fellow beings. The process of inculcation, of imposition, by forcing ideologies into the minds of people, is beginning to dissolve, both in religious and in political fields. Consensus will replace it. The voice of the people is already beginning to be heard, and this representative form of government will replace control of the masses through ideology. Everything is moving so fast now that events are beyond the control of the politicians. A new political era has begun.

Awareness awakens people to their basic human rights, their liberties and their responsibilities to themselves and each other.

The constitution of every nation will ultimately be based on the three principles of freedom, liberty and salvation. Freedom operates on the individual level, liberty operates on the national level, and salvation operates on the spiritual level.

The reality of global interdependence will become an established fact in our awareness, and as it does so, the fact that ‘all men are brothers’ will be increasingly translated into structures and practical programs of action that reflect this reality. Nations can and will experience brotherhood, common goals and common aspirations.

National governments will still be with us in the long term, but responsibility will increasingly be carried by the United Nations, which will become the most powerful political force in the world.

It will be the agency through which all major international problems will be resolved. The United Nations will play a very effective role in making sure that arms and ammunition do not filter through and thereby aggravate conflicts. It will act as an observer and a watchdog.

The UN is becoming a powerful centre and is no longer ‘just a name’.
All of these changes are taking people by surprise. These are historic times, and as each day passes, a new awareness becomes ever more apparent. People will more and more be talking of peace, of living together in harmony. This is a turning point in the history of mankind.
